Orissa Puri Jagannath Temple Ratna Bhandar opened after 46 years, know when it will announce Digit of Ornaments

Jagannath Temple Gem Store: The mystery of Lord Jagannath’s Dham was revealed which has remained an unsolved puzzle for everyone not for one or two decades but for 46 years. Although there was a lot of activity in Puri’s Jagannath Dham since morning, the actual preparation to open the lock of Ratna Bhandar started in the afternoon. At around 1 o’clock, the team started moving towards Ratna Bhandar through the stairs of the temple.

Amidst the security cordon deployed outside the temple premises, all the employees and officers appointed to open the lock of the Ratna Bhandar slowly entered inside and then the news came that the lock of the Ratna Bhandar has been opened. The Chief Minister’s Office of Odisha informed about the opening of the Ratna Bhandar through social media.

At the same time, officials said that 11 people were present when the Ratna Bhandar was opened, including former Odisha High Court judge Vishwanath Rath, Chief Administrator of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Arabinda Padhi, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Superintendent DB Gadnayak and a representative of Puri’s King ‘Gajapati Maharaja’. These also included four servants who took care of the rituals. They came out of the Ratna Bhandar at around 5.20 pm, which has an inner and an outer chamber.

In 2018, the Odisha High Court had ordered to open the lock

This question is not of just one person. For a long time there was a demand that the lock of Lord Jagannath’s treasure trove should be opened. The mystery of Swarnalok should be revealed. The case went to court and the order was also given but the lock was not opened. After the order, when the time came to open the lock, it was found that the key to the treasure was lost.

The search for the key began but even after 6 years the key was not found. Now whether the key was really lost or was deliberately hidden, this mystery still remains. This is the reason that when the lock of Ratna Bhandar was opened after 46 years, the key that was taken did not work. As a result, the lock on Ratna Bhandar had to be broken.

The invisible world of treasures behind the doors of the Jagannath temple

There are two parts in the Ratna Bhandar of Jagannath temple. Outer and inner. The inner part of the Ratna Bhandar was closed for a long time. It is said that there are 7 doors in this part and behind these doors is the invisible world of crores and billions.

The Jagannath temple was built in the 12th century. A Ratna Bhandar was also built in this temple which is based on Kalinga architecture. The jewels of the three deities of the Jagannath temple, Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra were kept in this Ratna Bhandar which were donated by many kings and devotees.

A committee has been formed to assess the jewellery of Ratna Bhandar

It is believed that this treasure kept increasing with time, but how big is the size of the treasure at present, how much has the wealth stored in the treasure increased, how much gold, jewellery and precious utensils are stored in the Ratna Bhandar beyond tales and stories? To answer all these questions, the process of assessment has been started under the supervision of a committee formed on the instructions of the court. However, the suspense is still there on when the mystery of the treasure will be revealed.

The lock was last opened in 1985, how much stuff was found?

The lock of Ratna Bhandar was last opened in 1978. At that time, everything from the crowns of kings to vaults full of treasures were seen. Now imagine what all would be in the treasure of a temple which is worth about 600 crores. There is more than 60 thousand acres of land in the name of Lord Jagannath in Odisha. When the last list was made, the details of the property presented included 128 kg gold, 221 kg silver, 12,831 heavy gold ornaments and apart from this, 22 thousand 153 silver utensils and other items.

However, there is no official record of what the other stuff was and how much it cost. It is believed that once the locks of Ratna Bhandar are opened, the complete record will be revealed this time.

There is a world of wealth inside the temple

In 2018, in response to a question in the assembly, former law minister Pratap Jena had said that when the Ratna Bhandar was opened for the last time, i.e. in 1978, there were about 12,500 tolas of gold ornaments. While there were a little more than 22,000 tolas of silver utensils.

One Bhaari is equal to 11.66 grams. This means that the temple’s Ratna Bhandar is a world of wealth which cannot be assessed in one or two days. Here, an update is that there is little hope of the veil being lifted from the invisible world of Ratna Bhandar in the next one or two days. It is being told that the committee formed for opening the Ratna Bhandar and assessing the wealth will be busy in some other work for the next two-three days. Only after this, a decision will be taken on the process of assessing the Ratna Bhandar.

There is also a news that a religious program is being organized in the Jagannath temple on Monday. This means that it will take more time to unravel the entire mystery of Ratna Bhandar. Currently, after breaking the lock of Ratna Bhandar, the key of the new lock has been deposited in the treasury.
